SAT & ACT INFORMATION
All SAT and ACT tests, with the exception of the ACT given in March of the student's junior year, are registered for individually by the student. Tests are given 6-7 times per year on Saturday mornings at various locations throughout Charlotte, including South Meck. Registration deadlines are about one month before test dates. For information on registering for and taking the SAT & ACT, please follow the links below. If you qualify for free or reduced lunch, you may be eligible for fee waivers to take these tests. Contact Elaine Miller, South Meck's Instructional Accountability Coordinator, at 980-343-3600 or firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions.
SAT and/or ACT scores are not on your high school transcript. To send scores to colleges/universities, they must come directly from the testing agency.
PSAT, PACT & ACT TESTING AT SOUTH MECK
All sophomores at South Meck take the PSAT & PACT. These are practice tests designed to familiarize students with the format of the ACT and the SAT. Score reports from each test are given to students to provide information on strengths and weaknesses, and to help students focus their preparation for the SAT and ACT.
All juniors at South Meck will retake the PSAT in junior year. Junior year PSAT scores can qualify students for National Merit recognition and scholarships. As with sophomore year, score reports from the PSAT will be given to juniors so that they can use their individualized results to help prepare for further testing. For more information about the National Merit Scholarship Corporation, please click here.
In February/March, all juniors take the ACT. This is a college entrance exam and scores are reportable to colleges! Students do not need to register and they take this test free of charge during the school day. This is a wonderful opportunity that the state of North Carolina provides to junior students.
